If you want to learn how to hypnotize someone – be it just for fun, or to help them improve something in their life – you’re in the right place to take the first steps in that direction.
What Do You Really Need In Order To Put Someone "Under"?
According to Dr. David Snyder, the master hypnotist and hypnosis trainer says that when you want to take someone into a trance and hypnotize that person, you only need 2 things.
2 Things Are All It Takes
You read that right. Only 2 things are required to hypnotize a person (somebody else or even yourself)
- Attention – You need to somehow grab or get their attention focused on something very specific. It can either be you, something within themselves, or even an object they can stare at (did anyone mention a pendulum?)
- Absorption – It’s like when you’re watching a really good movie. At a certain point, something inside you takes over and bam! You are In the movie! You are no longer an external observer sitting comfortably in a chair at the movie theatre – you are in there with the hero, driving that car in a wild pursuit, or with the heroine crying over a Ben & Jerry’s. That’s absorption.

So How Can You Get These 2 Magic Ingredients?
Well, there are literally dozens of ways to get people’s attention and absorption, dating as far back as the dawn of the human race.
As a matter of fact, one of the oldest methods to hypnotize someone, which is still used to this day and age, is stories.
Think about it. We even use the term A Mesmerizing Story (Mesmerism is just an old term, which means: causing someone to go into a hypnotic trance).
It’s not a coincidence that some of the best hypnotists on the face of the Earth have been (and still are) using stories as a tool of the trade, whether it be from stage in front of an audience, or in a one on one setting in their private clinic.
What About Something Faster Than That?
Of course, stories are just 1 way to get people into a trance. There are much faster ways – or “hypnotic inductions” as they are called in the hypnosis world.
Some of them require less than a minute to hypnotize someone into a deep trance, like the famous Handshake Interrupt or those PGO spikes you see on TV where the hypnotist shouts “sleep!” and the person in front of them drops into a nice deep trance.
OK… Which One Should I Choose Then?!
(You may ask yourself…)
The best answer I can give you is to learn multiple inductions, from reputable hypnosis trainers and to practice them for a while and then whenever you want to hypnotize someone, you will have at your disposal a variety of methods to choose from.
How Long Do You Need To Get Good At It?
Actually, it’s not the time, but rather the amount of practice that tips the scale.
For example, you can take a 1 week hypnosis workshop a come out a bona fide certified hypnotist.
Obviously, it does NOT mean that you will have seen everything there is to see, nor will you have met & conquered every challenge there is!
That takes years, if not decades, of experience and practice.
But you will be able to use what you’ve learned, to get that experience.
To sum things up, the best way to get good at hypnotizing people is to learn from experienced trainers, who have been doing and teaching hypnosis for many years (you’ll find some of them on this website), and then to do it – to practice hypnotizing people over and over, to hone the skills.
